From the patio door of my apartment, I could see the beautiful chandelier in the front window of the building across from me. At night, it would light up the parking lot and road. It inspired this poem.
From the window, rays of gold
pierce the shadows of the night,
laying claim to paths reveled
from the darkness into light.
Evening travelers park their cars
in the light of the chandelier,
shining like a guard each night,
showing that the way is clear.
Like the chandelier, we see
God’s Spirit shedding holy light,
claiming paths once hid in dark,
piercing shadows of the night.
Now earth’s travelers do not fear;
golden beams of heaven’s light
have guided them to safety’s house,
delivered them by Spirit’s might.
