THE LIGHT OF CHRISTMAS

bright sun
sunshine beams

THE SON ROSE
The darkness was pierced,
the shadows pushed aside
and light filled the world
for the Son had risen.

Darkness gave way to light,
the sky glowed in color
for morning had come.
The Son had risen.

As I looked at the picture, the sun’s rays touching the ground and the neighbor’s pond glowing in the distance, I thought of the light Christ brought into the world when He came as a baby. But He didn’t stay a baby. He died for our sins, and He rose that we might have light in this dark world. May God bless you this season with His light from above.

Love in ten sentences

Thank you Passion through Poetry for the invitation to the Poetry Challenge, Love in ten sentences. The poem has ten lines of four words, each containing the word Love. I am to nominate ten people to take the challenge. Here is the poem.

Love in Ten Sentences

God loves all people
He gives us love
He sent His love
so we could love
“Love your neighbor
as you love yourself”
not with weak love
but love in truth
Love casts out fear
For Jesus is Love

The ten people I will nominate are:

Writing 201: Poetry challenge–Elegy

Here is my elegy for the poetry contest. It has been a big challenge and lots of fun.

MEMORIES’ FOG
Suitcases packed, the boxes all stacked high
Moving van soon would arrive at the door.
Thirty years living now left in the fog file
of memories lived, now left on the shore

of oceans of happenings lived every day past:
front porch where families gathered at times,
back yard where children played even in darkness
windows where wind blew in music of chimes,

streets that we traveled in summer and winter,
parks where we walked and the kids had their fun,
snowstorms that meant new men in the yard’s snow
(they couldn’t hide so they’d melt in the sun).

So many memories filled up the fog file.
Never forgotten, they don’t disappear.
New ones replace and the old ones grow dim.
We’ll visit that fog file with smiles in our tears.
