THE VISION
A prayer.
The vision:
a tunnel descending
far into the darkness
of the earth.
An admonition:
stay close to my guide.
Down,
down,
deep into the earth
and its darkness.
And then a stream
flowing across my path:
stay close to my guide.
On the other side,
ascent to the light,
to the earth’s surface,
far above me.
It was a call from God
to serve in a difficult time.
He guided me
through the darkness
to the light,
a time of service
for which I am grateful.
