In honor of my mom who passed away in 2014.
DEMENTIA
From adult mind to child,
from doing to only receiving.
Into the valley of need
rather than sufficiency.
Not understanding,
not remembering
what she had done for years.
I held my children,
I taught my children,
but dimension took that ability from her.
But she is who she is,
even in spite of her regression.

A good poem. 🙂

Beautiful and it means even more to me now. I just lost my Dad to dementia a couple of days ago. I’m happy to have had the chance to spend some time with him and to know that he not only recognized me but also the kids. We haven’t been able to visit him for years and so it was truly a surprise. Now he is free again.
